Gujarat vs Arunachal Pradesh

For the first time I got to travel south Gujarat districts. And I see lots of developments in infrastructures. So being from Arunachal Pradesh, I thought it might be fun to compare some very obvious infrastructures between the states.

ROADS: Arunachal barely has double lane roads. Gujarat has world class six lane National Highway 8 running through south to north. And now it being extended to the western areas too. Gujarat covers 19,761 km State Highways and 30,019 km Panchayat (rural) roads.  Arunachal has nothing to boast about roads.

Even the most under developed district, Dangs, has seamless road to its capital Ahwa. Arunachal suffers from inaccessibility to the state capital during summers due to landslides.

SUPERMARKETS: There are thousands in Gujarat. If I were to count those in Arunachal, I could just call few friends and figure how many are there.

AIRPORTS: We have no commercial airports in Arunachal. Only in July this year, a decision is made to construct an airport at Holongi village.  Gujarat has seven domestic airports (in Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Rajkot, Surat, and Vadodora) and an international airport in Ahmadabad. Huge difference.

RAILWAYS: Looking at the railway coverage, the whole state of Gujarat is cris-crossed with rail lines. The districts without trains are an exception. Arunachal struggles to construct the 30 km railway line to the state capital.

Gujarat has natural advances. Its coastal areas helped in the business right from beginning of international trades. Whereas Arunachal had only hills. Perhaps, it should invest in airways!
