Lesson from a parenting book

Last year a friend gave a book (How to really parent your child by Ross Campbell) and as a family, we have been reading it.

A statement from this book: “We need to mould our children’s character as God molds ours: through transformation. We transform their lives by transforming their through processes – the way they think, they way they see.”

I like the practical tips: Always share your decisions with reasons. Say “because” of this… Never say “This is my command!” The more we share the reasons, the more our motivations will be clearer. Plus our kids will know why we make statements. Basically they will our values better and our heart beats.

But there is time for everything. The best times are when they ask QUESTIONS and when they are QUIET (near bed times, or in quiet places where they emotionally connect with us). Use those moments. We will find good opportunity to bring up our kids.

A test: Is my child getting closer to my heart? If not…
