Sometimes when I face difficult times, I felt the world and
life is very complicated. Its difficult to understand and navigate.
But then I watch cartoon – picture or movies. They are not
real but provides good framework of reality. Just looking at them I know what
they represent. Today I wanted to draw a palace. When I looked up on Google for
actual picture, there is no way I can draw. I turned to cartoon and then in a
flash of a second I know how to draw.
Life is not that complicated at the core. But that requires
perspectives. I am reminded of the following way Jesus dealt complicated issues
of his time by going to the root, the basics:
- When Pharisees and Sadducees struggled about divorce issue, Jesus was very clear, “God said, ‘A man must leave his father and mother and must stay with his wife. The two of them will be like one person.’ So they are not two people any more, but they are one person. Man must not separate what God has joined together.” – Matthew 19:5,6.
- I hear many detail definitions of salvation and eternal life, but Jesus’ definition: Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent – John 17:3.
- The source of all temptations is lust – James 1:14,15.
Sometime ago I heard someone said Jesus often took his disciples
to a high mountains when he taught. He taught Beatitudes in mountain. He
prayed last prayer on mount Olives. He transfigured in the mountain. And many
more. Intentionally he wanted them to see life from difficult level. And its
worth.
Sometimes when things do not make sense, it’ll pay divided
to step back and look from a different angle.
